Vanguard Saga of Heroes is a MMORPG recently released in January 2007 by Sigil Games Online and Sony Online Entertainment. Sigil was later purchased by SOE who now owns the rights to Vanguard. The game is a fantasy theme set in a world called Telon, where the humans, goblins, dwarves, elves, barbarians and beastmen are inhibited. The players choose from three primary aspects to play. They can either do adventuring, crafting or diplomacy or do a combination of all those aspects.

Since the launch, about 200,000 boxes have been sold and 90,000 of them are current subscriptions. Vanguard  Gold is a form of virtual currency used in the game. The system of currency consists of bronze, silver and gold coins, each representing utility value in Vanguard respectively. Vanguard SoH Gold can be earned from harvesting, crafting, trading and looting monsters. Earning wealth in Vanguard is a major part of the game as it makes the game more enjoyable. Players can buy better weapons and armor to advance through the game simpler. More sophisticated players can even buy real estate such as housing. Because of this search for gold, duping becomes a major problem. Gold and items are duped as much as anyone would want to, dumped into the economy and unbalance the system.
